Active Dorset recognises that having a fit for purpose coaching workforce is central to successfully developing and delivering sport. One of the key objectives of the Active Dorset Coaching System Support Network (CSSN) is to build the capacity of the coaching workforce in Dorset. Therefore Active Dorset is able to offer a small amount of financial support to its partners to help train and develop more coaches.
The focus of this funding is to train level 1 and 2 coaches; however L3 coaches can be supported where the applicant organisation can provide clear evidence of need. Coach teacher / tutor qualifications can also be supported. All coaches benefiting from scheme must either work as a coach or reside in the Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset area to qualify. Grants cannot be awarded retrospectively so all applications must be submitted and approved prior to coaches attending the training that the grant is subsidising. Applications can only be received from Local Authority, NGB or HE/FE partners. Club applications must be submitted by NGBs along with details of the coaches benefiting from the award. The individual coaches must be registered with the Coach support system iCoach. Website address is www.activedorset.org/icoach
All applications will be assessed by the Active Dorset Workforce Steering Group based on the following criteria:
The Active Dorset Workforce steering group has cross sector representation from Local Authorities, NGB’s and HE/FE sectors and will assess each application individually. The Workforce Steering Group will notify all applicant organisations within two weeks of the outcome of their application.
Payment will be made to the applicant organisation by cheque. Payment will only be made once Active Dorset has received formal confirmation that the training outlined in the application has been successfully completed.
The maximum grant that can be applied for per organisation is £500. Active Dorset will only fund up to 50% or £100 per qualification whichever comes first. Due to the relatively limited resources available to Active Dorset for supporting this scheme we cannot guarantee that every application will be successful. The amount awarded to your application will be at the discretion of the Workforce Steering Group.
